Vacation, Part II: The Farmstead

If you're visiting the KC/Overland Park area, have little kiddos, and want something inexpensive - and FUN! - to do, you must check out the Deanna Rose Farmstead in Overland Park. A win-win-win in this family's opinion!

Before the Cubs vs. KC game on Sunday, we took Mackie to this great facility located in Overland Park. All weekend we prepared her for going to the "farm." But it's much more than that, as you'll tell by the pics. We first took a visit to a one-room school house. (a friend saw this pic and said she was a little sad for a minute as she pictured Mackie and her son in a few years going off to school....awwww!)

We also had to test out EVERY chair in the place....

Ring some cowbells for good measure (and laughs)...

Sit on a saddle for Grandpa Bob....

And the ULTIMATE experience...feed the baby goats!

Mackie was very particular in what goats she wanted to feed. This particular goat upset our little miss so she cut him off from the bottle....

...and opted for this little guy instead.

I love how my little miss LOVES the outdoors, getting dirty, and shows her sweet, tender side to the animals. We'll definitely be visiting again...maybe when it's not 90+ degrees with 100 percent humidity at 10 a.m.!
