Braxton Cade: Four Months Old!
Dear Braxton Cade,
Today you are four months old - FOUR months old! Unbelievable! Each day with you is a true blessing from God. I am totally amazed at how he chose me to be your mommy!
We go in for your 4-month check-up next week, complete with weight and height stats, so I'll post those details then. But for now, here's what you're up to:
- Sleep: On (most) good days, you take a morning nap for about 45 min-1 hour, an afternoon nap for 2-3 hours, and another evening cat nap for 20-30 minutes. Your afternoon naps falls during your big sis's nap, so it's precious work time for mommy! (please keep this up!) We also put you to bed about the same time as your sis, but your evening sleep habits have us still in a query. Some nights you're a champ and sleep 8-9 hours, which means you'll go down at 8:15ish and wake up anywhere between 3:30-4 a.m. Other nights (like the last few nights) are a different story. You'll go down around the same time but wake up around 12:30-1 a.m. and then again at 5-5:30 a.m. You're happy and bubbly at that time of night, which makes it hard for mommy to ignore you and get frustrated! (even though I do tend to get snippy at daddy - poor guy!)
- Eat: You're eating 6-7 times a day, with about 3 hours stretches during the day (sometimes a 4-hour stretch when it's around nap time). Hard to believe that I purchased you rice cereal and we can start trying it in the coming days! (maybe that will be the trick to you filling up and sleeping longer at night?!) You're a picky one with the bottle. If it's not warm enough (and you like it warmer than most!), you won't touch it. There have even been a few instances at the sitter where you just haven't felt like eating and gone almost an entire day without taking a bottle. Stinker.
- Temperament: You're our happy baby. Seriously, the only time you really wail is when you're super hungry or super gassy. You're laid back and love watching your crazy sister dance and run around. You're a sweet snuggler and love to giggle when I pinch or kiss on your lovable leg chub.
- Development: You're putting your hand in your mouth and drooling all the time! Bibs are our friends these days (I hope it's not a sign of teething!) You love your Bumbo seat and watching the world around you from our viewpoint. You've really started to arch your back when you're on the ground or changing table - signs that you're developing those muscles and getting ready to roll! You don't mind tummy time (usually) and are slowly starting to move Superman style - again, another sign you're getting ready to roll! You also like to grasp things and have fun watching mommy or yourself in the mirror. We're going to bring up the exersaucer soon, as you enjoy the few moments you're in there when mommy is doing the laundry. Another fun toy to play with!
I love, love, love you, little man! Daddy and I pray that you grow up to love the Lord with all of your heart.
