The official first day of preschool is in the books! Mackie took off on her "big" first day of preschool this morning - after an evening of getting out of bed every 5 minutes until 9:30 p.m. (way past her bed time), and up at 6:45 a.m. today raring to go.
We made a cinnamon roll casserole - big-time special treat for breakfast in this house! - to kick off her morning, complete with her favorite fruit of the week (green grapes). She then requested a french braid side ponytail to go along with her new outfit.
As soon as we arrived, we had to take a pic of with our buddy from birth, Wyatt. Mackie and Wyatt have had quite the adventures in their four years of life. Last year they went to Wee Wigglers together and this year they're in the same preschool class. Add Wednesday night church and Sunday morning/evening church (along with some playdates and coffee dates throw in between) and these two see a lot of each other. As you can see, they don't mind one bit! ;)
Mackie, in her true spunky self, simply waved good-bye and pranced off into her classroom without looking back. I didn't even go in her classroom to take a pic with her teachers or with her inside her room because she simply got down to work - scanning the room, trying to busy herself and meet someone new.
It sounds like she had a great day. I picked her up and she was a little down (surprise! she actually missed Jack and I!), but perked up after her nap and told us all about her "job" for the day - she said the snack-time prayer. She also talked about the bear hunt they went on, the Bible story they talked about, and having cheese crackers with lemonade for snack and then only being able to hang on three monkey bars before they were too tough.
Here's to a new chapter and learning experience - for the entire family!
