Each season, type-A mama likes to create a fun "to-do" list on the chalkboard in the dining room. As a family we come up with fun things to go do and intentional acts of kindness to fit the season.
In the summer our to-do list is a mile long, so suffice it to say, it doesn't quite fit our chalkboard! That being said, Jack and I want to make each week this summer meaningful and one that lasts with our babes. It's the perk of being married to an underpaid and overworked teacher - summers equal a somewhat more relaxed schedule, lots of sunshine and outdoors time, and being together as a family. It's almost like we're making up for the lost time we endure during the hectic winter months.
Of course, daddy is a rock star and stays home with the kids most days that I'm in the office. I leave fun to-dos for them but he has no problem coming up with some fun ideas of his own. Mackie and Brax adore their daddy and he adores them back. What a guy!
This past week kicked off our first "official" week of summer with the Memorial Day holiday. Here are some of our first week of summer highlights:
Memorial Day visit to Salt City Splash and park
Mastering the bike ride in the neighborhood
First swim in the Preston pool for the Summer 2014 season
Mackie's first church t-ball game (aka: herding cats)
A (rainy) visit to the Dillon Nature Center Visitor's Center
Family date night to see "Frozen" at the Fox Theater. Who can beat $5 tickets when they're buy one, get one free?! Let's just say Mackie joined in every other 3-7 yr old girl in singing every single song throughout the movie.
Our "to-do" list has plenty more on the list, which is great - because we have another 10+ weeks of summer to go!
