My girlfriends and I decided a few months ago to do a garage sale. Five gals. Ten kids (8 boys!). Cleaning out closets, basements, and attics. And one fun weekend!
I offered to host - knowing that my dirty house wouldn't mind extra footsteps and messes. Plus, I had the perfect 'hood and garage out of the bunch to get good sale traffic.
Despite the long hours, 10 kidlets who were 6 and under (yes, 20 feet pitter-pattering in and out of of the house all day Friday!), and table upon table of our "junk" (I use this term in the kindest of ways), we had a great day making cherished memories, drinking unlimited coffee, giggling, story telling, and just enjoying one long social hour.
We look tired. But all smiles behind the tired mama eyes!
A picnic lunch for the kidlets in tow on Friday. It was a hit!
The oldest two babes of the bunch - Mackie and Wyatt - did a lemonade stand. Who could resist buying from these cuties?
Again, it was a lot of work but a lot of fun. These girlfriends are precious treasures. We're alike in various ways, different in many ways, and it's been incredible to see God's hands weaving us in and out of each other's lives throughout the last several years.
Now we just need to figure out a way to have the social hour again - without all of the tiring work that goes into putting on a successful garage sale.
