We kicked off the day (after an early basketball game) with a trip to Memorial Hall for Hutch Rec's gingerbread house decorating event. Not only does mama get to see and hear about all of the behind the scenes work leading up to this event, but also gets to experience taking the kidlets to this family favorite time. I love seeing the kidlets create their own gingerbread masterpieces each year (and really love not having to clean up the mess in my own house!).
Highlights included Brax wanting to sneak eat marshmallows (ewww.....how many hands touch those?) and Mackie wanting to put so many peppermint sticks and suckers on the roof that she the poor roof almost collapsed on her house. A few stubborn moves later, and the girl problem solved her way into using every single peppermint stick and sucker that she had planned on using.
After dinner that night, mama made homemade hot chocolate, daddy bundled the kidlets up in Christmas jammies, and we hit the road to view Christmas lights around town. It's such a treat singing along to Christmas music and hearing the gleeful giggles and "oohs" and "aaahs" as we pass by lights around town. It was so much fun we may just have to take a second outing this week to view some other areas.
We're now approaching Christmas - four days and counting! - and are excited to continue our Christmas festivities as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. What joy we have celebrating God's perfect gift!
