Spring Break, Conkling Style

We love breaks around here. When you're married to a teacher and now have a kindergartner and preschooler in the mix, breaks mean precious family time.

And while the "real world" doesn't slow down for spring break, mama still managed to take a few vacay days here and there to make it feel like a vacation.

Here are some highlights of our "staycation" spring break:

Spring Break week kicked off with the kidlets going to grandma/pa's house and we adults living it up for 24 hours kid-free. We weren't excited or anything....

Mama had to wrap up a few work deadlines at the start of the week, which meant it was daddy-kidlet time. Have I mentioned how much of a rockstar daddy my sweet hubs is to our children? They all three enjoy their time together - especially when it involves fishing...

On days when the wind wasn't blowing a million miles an hour, we enjoyed afternoon walk-runs and bike rides around the 'hood...

Mackie and mama freshened up with some girl time and received spring haircuts. (to which daddy happily approves because inches cut from the head mean less hair in the drains!)

We enjoyed the church skating night and survived the evening with no broken bones...

We even took a quick day trip to Wichita to enjoy the zoo (on the coldest/windiest day of break) plus a special lunch date at Panera (a treat, considering we rarely eat out during lunchtime)...

We enjoyed obstacle courses in the garage...

Followed by family board game night and a competitive game of "Guess Who?"...

And capped the week off by preparing our hearts and home for the weekend Easter celebration...

I love these sweet times with just the four of us. There's nothing like it - and I'd choose a staycation spring break over a trip any day!
